Principal's Message [8]
Dear Parents and Families,
It is so exciting to be back for another school year! We have so many phenomenal plans for our students. It is very exciting that we now have all day Kindergarten. We have also hired several new staff members. Look inside this newsletter to learn more about each of these teachers. They are going to make the Primary North team even stronger!
I also wanted to take this time to introduce our new theme and mission for Winton Woods Primary North, “Developing Leaders One Child at a Time.” Our staff has been trained in The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and have read the book, The Leader in Me by Stephen R. Covey. I invite each of you to read The Leader in Me or listen to the audio CD. You can always pick up a copy at your local library. There is also so much on the internet about the 7 Habits and The Leader in Me book.
Our halls are adorned with the 7 Habits and we will focus on these habits during assemblies, library time and in our classrooms. As a staff, we have committed to live by the habits in hopes that the students will as well. Each month the newsletter will focus on one of the Habits.
Earlier this summer you may have received a One Call about students having the opportunity to apply and interview for school wide leader roles. Many students have applied and have been given the opportunity to hold a job at school. This idea was created by the team to give the students a sense of ownership and pride in their school and learning community. If your child has been “hired” for a job, please talk to them about the importance of following through with this commitment. I truly believe the students will rise to the occasion and take their job seriously and not get fired due to behavior or discipline (just like in a regular job!)!
My hope is that the students share the 7 Habits information that they have learned with their families. These habits can be very helpful at home as well!
